Just like life, I know my mom’s glasses are fragile. Nevertheless, I carry them in my pocket whenever I go out with my camera. Despite my efforts to keep them whole, I know someday they will break because they still bend in ways that so indicate.

Four years ago today, my mom as I knew her went away.
Although now we are apart, I still see her strong and clear heart.
She says it's time to release the old. “Rest,” I am told.

So I stop life’s wrestle and find a spot to nestle.
Even though she and I are in a different frame,
I know she loves me still the same.

As it turns out, today is someday. I now carry two hearts in my pocket and discover that they’re just as strong and clear apart as they always were together.
